Our instructors don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. Sensei McGiboney uses spot markers and adjusted language for students who process differently. Instructor Casillo finds ways to make techniques click for teens by helping them discover their own style. This place rocks. My 4 year old is loving the ninjas class. She’s growing in ways I wasn’t sure were possible. The instructors at Action Karate Telford are kind and compassionate, they encourage you to believe in yourself, and they foster an environment where community thrives. Their involvement of families makes this a really welcoming place. Moms train free in May, so I joined to bond with my daughter, but I’m finding it’s a community I really needed and I’m getting exercise too. Can’t recommend this place enough.

It took me a while to write this review because I wanted to do AKT the justice it deserves. My oldest son has been attending for a few years now and our experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. The difference I see in our son in terms of confidence, grit, and maturity are truly amazing. Ms Cheri and Mr Angelo are so supportive and all of the teachers are positive, focused, and encouraging.

The key to success here and at any dojo - and I cannot stress this enough - is commitment. When our son joined, we told him that he would have to commit for at least a year, 2 days a week. When he decided to join the senior black belt program, we told him that he had to see it through, even though it is likely a journey that will take him years to accomplish. Some days we don’t want to go (both parents and kids have felt that way!) and we push through anyway because we know how much difference it will make.

Give it a try, for at least a year, like we did. I guarantee that you will see a huge positive difference in your child (or yourself).

Now our youngest has just started his journey here and we could not be more excited for him.

Action karate Telford is an excellent Martial Arts School where kids can learn strength, endurance, perseverance and self-defense in a family friendly atmosphere. Our 15 year old son and 12 year old daughter have gained so much confidence learning martial arts over the last four years of their training.

I would highly recommend this school for many reasons including: the flexibility of scheduling classes, the positive atmosphere, the excellent example that the instructors provide, and the structure/organization of the school.

Another reason I appreciate this sport, compared to other sports, is that we have 5 children ages 4-15 years old. Everyone can participate in their own classes with other kids their age, but it’s all in one place. We aren’t running our kids to multiple places for multiple sports.

Over the past few years two of our sons have trained here. The staff has always been respectful, supportive and committed to the success of both boys. One of our boys has been working on all of his techniques in one-on-one sessions (with Ms. Cheri) and each time he visits he’s challenged to improve and give his best efforts. He very much looks forward to his classes and enjoys every minute of his training. The staff has a strong focus on respect, discipline and commitment. Finally, our family schedule is constantly shifting and Telford Action Karate always does their best to accommodate changes. Highly recommend.

Action Karate Telford is an incredible karate studio. The teachers are energetic and you can tell they genuinely care about what theyre teaching. Each week there is a themed lesson around something to make the kids better (I.e. Respect, Manners, Balance, Stranger Safety, etc.) and there's so much attention to detail weaving that lesson throughout the class that the kids learn important life skills along with their karate skills. We love the well-rounded and intentional approach from Mr Angelo & Ms Cheri to really provide value. Would recommend this to anyone that's even remotely interested in an activity for your kid. They will get so much more than just exercise from these classes!

Our Story

Serving the Indian Valley Since 2019

Action Karate Telford opened its doors in 2019 with one purpose and that is to give families in the Souderton-Telford area a place where kids learn more than martial arts. We help them grow into stronger, more confident versions of themselves. We’ve spent six years building something that goes deeper than kicks and belt promotions.

Our instructors have had the pleasure of watching multiple students transform from having zero self confidence or self control to being future leaders.

What is the style of martial arts that you teach?

At Action Karate Telford, we teach Tang Soo Do — with a teaching team that includes multiple experienced instructors bringing different strengths to the mat. Instructor Ian Shutts is a 2nd Degree Black Belt with 11 years in the martial arts. Instructor Jason Angelo is a 2nd Degree Black Belt with 6 years in the art and 4 years at Action Karate, with a teaching approach built around high energy, clear instruction, and connecting the curriculum to students' actual lives and ages. Together they run a school that was named Best of 2026 Telford Township Award Winner in the Martial Arts School category.

When can I attend classes at Action Karate Telford?

We run classes throughout the week for families in Telford, Sellersville, and the Indian Valley area. What should I wear to my first class?

Just come comfortable. For your first session at Action Karate Telford, loose clothing you can move in is all you need. Your uniform (gi) is included in the $49 intro offer. Bare feet on the mat, no shoes required.

Telford runs programmes from age 3 through to adults, serving families from Sellersville Elementary, Franconia Elementary, Indian Crest Middle School, Dock Mennonite, and Faith Christian.
